DX11 or DX12 in MSFS
Hi chaps,
as per the title, I’m curious to see who is using DX12 on MSFS. I tried it briefly back in November and it was ok, but went back to DX11 as I wasn’t having any issues and DX12 is still beta.
Has anyone made the switch permanently to DX12?

Re: DX11 or DX12 in MSFS
I've been on Dx12 for a few months now Ben. No dlss though, too blurry on anything that moves. Happy with TAA. Subjective I know, but I think I get better rates and less micros stutter on Dx12 but not checked recently.
Early days with dx12 I had gpu memory over use (8gig rtx2070 s) later drivers seem to have sorted the capping and memory usage is no more than on dx11.

Still on DX11 (Win 11) here. Tried DX12 when it first appeared, but haven't tried it again since.

I answered the poll as DX11 in windows 10 but then decided to revisit this option in MSFS and was pleasantly surprised by how much smoother and crisper it appeared running DX12. So my poll entry is now outdated.
DX12 in windows 10 for me.

As a late arrival to this, I am using DX12 in Win 11, so far no noticeable problems!!

Re: DX11 or DX12 in MSFS
So I was off down a worm hole reading about the new Intel ARC 770 Graphics cards and how they compare very favourably to NVidia, especially in MSFS at the entry to mid range. That let to reading about something called ReBAR or Resizable Bar (seems to be some sort of memory setting that the new intel cards need and can be useful with other graphics cards too).
So I went into the BIOS and saw it was disabled, so though, I'll have a bit of that.
Next, I went into MSFS and switched to DX12, and enabled DLSS in Quality mode.
Next I deleted and recreated the rolling cache.
Next I exited the sim, and cleared the shader cache.
Finally I flew the Hunter from Auckland to Tauranga. The performance was really good and none of the pixelation in the distance I'd seen before with DX12, so I'm going to stick with this for a bit. Quite impressed so far.

Confused am I.... Did you switch from DX12 or to DX12?TSR2 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 18:01So I was off down a worm hole reading about the new Intel ARC 770 Graphics cards and how they compare very favourably to NVidia, especially in MSFS at the entry to mid range. I recently switched back to DX11 after flying DX12... but now I realise I forgot to delete my rolling cache!
