Re: Upgrading to MSFS

I haven't been keeping track of the installation size, but I'll have a look next time I'm on the pc. I've got a reasonably good pc, but it's nowhere near top of the line. Most settings are on high / ultra with frame rates around 40 on average, depending on aircraft and location, on a standard monito...

Re: MSFS 2020 July 27 Update

I'll have to leave it until the weekend, which is a bit annoying.

Re: MSFS Aircraft list

Just read that the MSFS update (Sim Update 5) due today will break the PMDG DC-6 (and God knows what else!). PMDG has an update ready to be released in line with the sim update, so check the PMDG operations center app after you update the game.

Re: ORBX scenery - total confusion!

I think Global is similar to the EU sceneries, i.e. landclass, covering the whole globe, but more generic. I've never used it myself though so I'm a bit vague on the details! You don't need EU or Global if you're using TrueEarth, and it's advisable to remove EU to avoid any conflicts, and it would b...

Re: ORBX scenery - total confusion!

EU England / Scotland are landclass products, basically the same tech as the default scenery, using generic textures for cities, villages, fields etc, but higher quality textures and more accurate placing. TrueEarth is a photo scenery product with autogen. Takes up a huge amount of disc space but it...

Here's a couple of shots of Gloustershire and Cosford.

As I said, not bad for default, but not up to addon standard.

Re: Upgrading to MSFS

For VFR flying MSFS can't be beat. The default airports are a huge improvement over FSX / P3d default, but generally not as good a addon scenery. There is a huge amount of freeware scenery enhancements available, although I haven't seen any for the airfields you mention. As Ben mentioned, be prepare...

Re: MSFS Aircraft list

There's also a nice BOAC paint there, although the real aircraft was a DC7, rather than a 6.
