Re: Cottesmore Families Day
Serving on Joint Force Harrier at Cottesmore myself, I can tell you that the Families Day is the station's way of saying thank you to the families for putting up with their loved ones being regularly deployed overseas on operations. Fmansam, you say that there was no bitchiness intended in your post...

Re: XH558 at Farnborough
We were at Farnborough on Saturday and took this video with a little help from my 3 yr old son. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pySuzB7fNg She flew over Cottesmore again today, just caught her tail end disappearing northwards (towards Waddo I think). Hopefully she will make an appearance at our Fami...

Re: Another four engined Avro Bomber to take to the skies . . .
Just found this posted today by martin@coningsby over at the ukar forums: "With the kind permission of Andrew Panton I can now advise the following: A feasibility study has been carried out on the aircraft. The results show her to be in good condition with around 1600 hours left on the main spa...

That was going to be my answer as well.XR219 wrote:I guess they would do it with CGI mate. I can imagine they'd be allowed to make any changes to these airframes.

Re: Another four engined Avro Bomber to take to the skies . . .
I'd heard a rumour about this a while back. Can't remember where I'd heard it but the rumour was that the film company behind the forthcoming Dambusters remake would be funding getting Just Jane back in the air as well as paying for the Canadian Lanc to be flown over for filming.

Re: Lancs over Lincoln
Quite possible. Most of the filming or to put it another way 'live' shots in the film seem centred on 3 aircraft which are then duplicated to give the impression of groups of 3 (633 Sqn is very similar). Dunno but that looks like York Minster with the river Ouse beyond. Nice phot however it's viewe...

Lancs over Lincoln
Having grown up just up the road from Scampton, I reckon this is probably one of the best photos I've seen on the net.

Re: Vulcan XM604
Still in mate (12 years) and actually based at Cottesmore (for the 2nd time). This coupled with the fact that I grew up near Scampton just as the Vulcans were leaving kind of made this story special to me.
