In the report of Avio Linee´s inaugural London-Venice service from FLIGHT magazine June, 9, 1938
they state, that the alps are cleared at about 15,500 ft.

The photo is the Navy version without tip tanks and shows the old streamlined style rotating beacon on the underside of the
fueslage aft of the trailing edge
