Re: FS2004 graphics problem - missing smoke, dust and contra
Finally broke down and did a reinstall. So far, so good. Just got to find out what else got broken in the process.

FS2004 graphics problem - missing smoke, dust and contrails
Over the past week or so I've been installing a second copy of FS2004 for modern flying (other is set up purely retro, pre-1975), as FSX is annoying the heck out of me with its mediocre performance. One thing that has me stumped is that somewhere, somehow in getting it installed, updated and add-ons...

Re: A job well done......
Excellent example of keeping calm in a high pressure situation. Also a good example of why practicing and planning for in-flight emergencies is a must for any pilot.

Re: Back to FS2004
Over the past week or so I've been adding and updating a couple of extra FS2004 installs on my box. The one I've been using here is set up purely for retro flights, roughly 1945-1975ish. The two I've added are one for Golden Wings (pre-WWII) and one for post-1975ish flying. FSX is still installed bu...

Re: Starting up the BAC 1-11 (One-Eleven)
Had the same problem in FSX, can't get the 1-11 started. Think it has to do with the difference in how FSX treats the starters and fuel feeds by combining functions rather than having them discrete. Kind of why I've spent the past few days rearranging things and creating two more FS2004 installs.

Re: FlyNET/FSA induced failures - REPORT THEM HERE
I'll be doing the final TR flight tonight. See what happens with FSX. Need to double check and make sure all failures are off in FSX settings so that only FSA can impact it.

Re: FlyNET/FSA induced failures - REPORT THEM HERE
Two failures trying the EGPD-EGPB TR flight in FSX. First was starboard engine shutdown (no relight), second port engine fire. Neither displayed any FSA/Flynet banner message. Since I just finished reinstalling FSX after a major corruption I aborted both flights, as I can't be 100% sure FSX is funct...
