Re: Reviving a PC

When I tried to boot up the PC it whirred away but that's all she wrote, no beeps or squeeks that usually give you a clue as to what is non-functional. Allan, the fans start before anything else, then the machine does a Power-On-Self-Test to check that various bits and pieces are present and correc...

Re: This is French for.....

My late Dad (who taught English) liked to tell a yarn about a 17th century Huguenot who had fled France to start a new life in London. He found some cheap digs in a garret in Southwark, and started learning English. One hot day, after spending hours trying to figure all the '...ough' words, he went ...

Re: Blown away

Looking at Brisbane below, no more roads and buildings cut in half by waterways, and goodbye oceanic water texture on inland water. BUT; will we lose road traffic in the process? There should be at least half-a-dozen substantial bridges visible in that shot, and I can't see any. If they can generat...

Re: FSAddOn Bristol Freighter

I saw (and heard) the NZ Aviation Heritage one at Omaka earlier this year. Glorious rumblies  I have some scrappy video but I found some on YouTube of the same taxi run, which is better quality video, but the musical joke was not a good idea at all. Anyway look here, and form your own opinion...

Re: How solid are SSDs???

Looks like the reason the repair fell over is a tiny scratch on disc 1, 0.25mm x 3mm. Now I'll have to buy FSX again. Mike - video rental places used to provide a polishing service to repair that sort of damage. I am quite sure there are still some around, even in darkest Victoria. I made an FS9 ba...

Re: How solid are SSDs???

Hello Mike - I've been revisiting the SSD question lately, because my AFS2 is getting quite large, with lots of hi-res scenery being developed by community members. It's a lot like the UK VFR days, in FS9. When SSDs first appeared, the word was that they were good for scenery storage (write once, re...

Re: Can you identify this one?

Strictly speaking, Mike, I only said I could identify it, but I didn't actually do so. Joe did :agree:
