I found it easier to plan the first few flights VFR, that way you have less stress after T/O and no ATC vectoring while you're initial climbing out, just remember to use clear weather, in daylight is best. If you're going to fly VFR into and out of the UK, Robbie, it's going to have to be "in ...

Is it normal to fly the whole procedure at 6000FT and 220 Knots, or would ATC normally allow a climb before the end of the procedure? In the UK, the general principle is that an aircraft will be taken off a SID (vertically and/or laterally) as soon as it's practicable to do so - in other words, as ...

Hi Ian, If you mean will it give take off clearance at the departure airport, landing clearance at the destination and leave you in peace to do whatever you want by way of route and altitude in between, the answer is no, it will expect to control the flight in between the airports too. I've never tr...

Ah, another CBFS RC user - there's more than I thought! If you like that, John, you'll like this even better - in the latest build currently under test, in response to user requests you can ask for a repeat even if the co-pilot is doing the RT so you can have the best of both worlds. This test...

   A silly question perhaps but would the VFR experience be equally enhanced?? A far from silly question, Dave - it's actually a "hot topic" in the team at the moment. The straight answer to your question is no it won't as RC (at the moment) is for IFR flights only. H...

Will I.. won't I.. will I.. won't I.. Do I detect signs of weakening? Two things I can confidently promise you (and anyone else from CBFS for that matter): 1. Your IFR flights in RC will never be the same again - it really does add an extra dimension and 2. Your own personal "Su...

Re: Radar Contact 4 - further comments/observations

You can also have random pre recorded real world ATC played inbetween your own RT. This as I say is random and you will hear ATC from all over the UK but it really does add to the overall experience. Much of the ATC seems to be Thames and reminds me of my time at LCY which I enjoy. Correct me if I'...

I've had RC since version 2. Me too, Ian. I then joined the team to help develop V3 which was the first version with any serious attempt at internationalisation although it had very little compared to V4. And if you have FSUIPC/WideFS, Radar Contact can be run from another PC over TCP/IP - helps re...

Chris,
I'm on the RC4 beta team and was responsible for the non-US procedures, phraseology and altimetry system so, if you get any problems in those areas, feel free to PM or email me. (pete at pcpitman dot freeserve dot co dot uk)
