Not where you want to be on a short final. Or even a long one!

Re: 'Impossible' electromagnetic propulsion tested

"...until something fails or wears down, theoretically the engine could keep running forever..."

Doesn't that apply to everything ever built?

Re: Engines need a tune-up?

CH,

Part of the acceleration problem I was having was that I was actually paying attention to staying out of the red area on the temperature gauges by keeping the throttle setting at the top of the yellow range. I had memories of flying David Maltby's BAC-111, in which too long a throttle setting ...

Re: Engines need a tune-up?

Without actually admitting that I have an ATP, the reason my Trident either kept falling out of the sky or refused to accelerate was because I misunderstood the sim's flap and slat controls. Let's just call it "instructor error" and keep this all to ourselves.

Thank you all for you replies.

Re: Engine Faliure

Hi Ralph,

Did you add Frazier's panel to the airplane or did the model come with it? If you added it, did you have any problems prior to installing it? If the latter, I suggest you remove Frazier's panel, download a fresh copy, and reinstall it again. Maybe the panel picked up an eveil spirit ...

Engines need a tune-up?

I'm having a problem with David Maltby's HS Trident 3. His after-takeoff check calls for flaps up at 190 kts and slats up at 225. But in order to accelerate to those speeds, I have to level off ! The engines appear to be developing full power; I have to retard the throttles a bit to keep the temps ...

Re: Man shoots computer

Amen to Robbie's comment about Dell. I had less trouble with my refurbished Commodre 64 in 1985 than I had with my 3-year-old Dell! And I knew a hell of a lot less about computers back then.

Re: A fine start..

Not a great way to start the day, Dave. As I keep telling my son, "Backup, backup, backup!" I recently bought him a 3T Western Digital external drive and a subscription to Macrium Reflect for his birthday. Am I a good daddy?

I have two external drives on each of two computers. I alternate backups ...

Re: Weather + Turbulence question

FSRealWX (it's free) has a place where you can set turbulence levels. It gets pretty lively and realistic in thunderstorms. Look for the red areas on weather radar maps. Then take off from (and return to land at!) the nearest airport or one inside the storm area.
