JF Dove - Channel Airways G-ANVU coming up!
Dear gentlemen!
In order not to hijack the main JF Dove thread, I think it'll be better to open this one.
As already announced over there, the Channel Airways rendition will be coming up.
Since I wasn't able to decide which of the both livery variants (of 1964 or 1970) I'd prefer, I decided to ...

Re: Virtualcol
What are peoples thoughts on Virualcol products.. ?
Want a straight answer?
They're not worth a single cent.
Bought their F 50 a while ago and scrapped it immediately.
Did the same mistake agein with their Otter last year (some people never learn...)

Re: Just Flight Dove Released....
... Eventually spotted a rogue bump map in my texture folder (I'd copied the BOAC scheme folder as a base). Turned out the alpha channel of that was a slightly different shade compared to the fuselage bump map..
Argh - that's mean!
I'm still not happy with the wing roots and fuselage belly ...

Re: Just Flight Dove Released....
Thanks, Dave!
I've erased the 'shadow' layer on the upper nose section part (and the nose's sides as well) and only kept the highlights for the horizontal stabilizer's parts (oddly enough, the upper nose and the hstab reside in the same texture file). The stock highlights seem a little overdone to ...

Re: Repainter's joy
As Dave says, the rudder on a separate sheet to the fin, and a different scale.
The difference in scale is by factor 1,118, so it's quite smart to paint the ("larger") fin first and resize its texture by factor 0,894 to apply to the rudder.
Considering the mapping, there obviously was no need to ...

Re: Just Flight Dove Released....
Thanks for that, mate!
Seems to me like Channel's G-ANVU in its 1970 habit
http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1078812/
wasn't blank metal anymore, unlike the 1964 variant:

I think it would be a case of 'repaint efficiency' (sorry: I'm german after all!) to go for ...

Re: Just Flight Dove Released....
I can't find a good shot of AMYO which shows that side. Unless you can find definite evidence to show it wasn't there on YO.. I'd leave it there.
I'd usually consent with this rather pragmatic attitude, but my problem is that both pics I've found of YO's port side clearly show the absence of the ...

Dan-Air HS.748 G-AYYG (ex Mount Cook)
Dear gentlemen,
Garry mentioned G-AYYG in the Mount Cook thread, so it's just a matter of "repaint efficiency" to transform the former Mount Cook NZ-MCF into Dan-Air's aircraft.
Very useful templates here:
