I'm in Gloucestershire, but luckily at the south west end, about 20 miles south of Gloucester itself. My house is 150 ft above the Severn so if we get flooded the rest of the country is in SERIOUS trouble! Luckily our water and power don't come from the north, so life is almost normal here. But my d...

Hmm, why do I feel yet another Bev repaint coming on?

Maybe I could re-paint the dreaded 'globe' as an RB-211.......?

I'm not sure the purpose of their intent is for housing, it's just to stop flying. They could build a pretty large housing estate on the south side of the airfield, on the old domestic site, and still carry on flying. Cotswold District Council don't really seem to know or care what aviation is about...

Hehehe, my Dad would have agreed with that 100%.

He reckoned a Centaurus was just like a Hercules but with 4 more cylinders, twice as much horsepower and 10 times as many oil leaks! :welldone:

...and when you've put the S6B into the Solent on your fifth attempt at the Race it makes you think about what it must have been like all that long ago.

The scenery is something else too, what with the ferries moored on Ryde Pier etc. Nicely done indeed.

Rich, Leif, I never saw a Single Pin in the flesh so to speak but saw loads of Twin Pins flying around in Aden, maybe the single had the edge being lighter, When we lived at Benson there were quite a few Single Pins flying through, but I wasn't sure where they were going to. I'm sure they wouldn't h...

And this is the second one they've done. There was a smaller, but just as ugly, WIG released about 18 months ago, I still have it stashed somewhere. Great fun to 'fly' so long as you don't dig a wing tip in the sea on turns. Saying the larger one '...rivalled the Spruce Goose in size' is pushing thi...

Garry,

You must have influence in high places.....

I can't remember the details now but it seemed all rather convoluted to me at the time.

At the recent Air Day there were teams of people collecting names too. Needless to say I signed up.

It seems the prime mover and shaker in the plot to stop flying there is an ex-RAF WingCo who moved into the area only recently!!!!

The mind boggles........
