Re: Emirates or Air India

AI allegedly have a poor safety culture. However, they seem to operate here regularly without falling out of the skies! Not sure I'd be put off if the flight was considerably cheaper. Otherwise, I'd go direct with Virgin from Heathrow. A recent trip to Sri Lanka (stopping at Doha with Qatar Airways)...

Re: Concorde's Last Flight

I think it's a new one for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it was 90 minutes, so it doesn't fit into the usual 1 hour slot with identikit adverts. Secondly, it referred to the ongoing court case, stating that a verdict was due in the autumn.

Re: Concorde's Last Flight

I watched all except the first 30 minutes and found it very interesting. Did pilots really slam the throttles forward like that? Yes, the 'computers' do the rest (reheats are already armed), including retarding the acceleration of the No.4 engine so that the vortices off the leading edge don't stal...

Re: Concorde's Last Flight

Just finished watching this and thought I was well read on the Air France Concorde disaster. A real eye opener as to what had happened behind the scenes, prior to the crash. They didn't even open the can of worms, if some of the stuff on Pprune is to be believed. No mention of the rough, unfinished...

Re: World cup blues

I really feel sorry for Steven Gerrard. Who the hell would want to be made Captain of a bunch of herberts like that. Best he can do is report sick before it's too late ;) Steven (O.J.Simpson) Gerrard is lucky not to be inside anyway Dave. The FA need to change the rules so players can be selected f...

It's been 5 or so years for me! Had too much time on my hands at work then... :dunno:

Re: NCL Nostalgia

Wonderful shots there. Especially nice to so many military. I bet it's not every day you turn up at your local airport to find a F111 getting an engine change!

Thanks,

It's that time of year again...XH558

Once again, the operators of the Vulcan are out of money, and staff have been given their notice. I know the operation and funding divides opinion, but here is the latest plea for people to sign 558's 50th Birthday card, and of course donate if possible.
