Re: Time For Chanukah and Christmas Flights To Northern Finland
Aharon , don't forget that the Caravelle nose was the Comet design , built under licence by Sud Aviation . And as a 'quid pro quo ' , the Trident No. 1 and 3 engine pylons were a Caravelle design built under licence by de Havilland , and adapted to RR Speys instead of RR Avons . Each pylon on an att...

Re: Trident optimum cruise altitude?
Ady , Must have been towards the end when we were all '' Tridexterous '' [ honest ] . Most T1es were ex Northeast and flown by them and posted across Mainline guys . 'Mr Wu' ..aka G-ASWU was a T1e ex Cyprus Airways , same fit as BEA a/c . And retrieved from Nicosia with a stealth engineering and fli...

Re: Carenado Shorts 360
Hi Nev , good to see you around .. Hope you're all well . Is there a prop condition lever / VP prop lever ? Can you and are you putting '' props to Max '' [ RPM ] for the approach ? Should then be like running into a barn door. ATP with PWC 127s [ grown up PT6 ] , if you did not put props to Max, sl...

Re: Trident optimum cruise altitude?
Ady , I'd heard about that on T1s . Bit before my time, T birds from '73 -to the end , Dec'85 [ inc. layoffs ].
Heard also T1s had VMO 400kts , reduced to 365 for commonality with T2s. Probably the end of using mains only as a brake was at same time .

Re: Trident optimum cruise altitude?
If ok ? I'll continue the tale . For practice one evening empty from GLA inbound to Bovingdon , delayed descent until ATC really worried ! 1 and 3 closed , 10,0000 reverse ; No2 pulled back gently to idle [ as pressurisation comes from No 2 LP bleed , with below 10,000 rpm bleed changes to HP bleed ...

Re: Trident optimum cruise altitude?
Gents , in spite of Chrissy Spirit Ady has it right . Best TAS was FL 280-290 . Seem to remember M.8 and 320 kt IAS co-incided . LHR-GLA-LHR early on was 230-250 and fast , M.86 . We were selling speed , after all it's a Jet a.c . not T/prop ..... Always a pilots reason to go fast .. Later fuel beca...

Re: Old (ish) Callsign
Luckily the 146s I watched , always seemed to have gentle landings ! ...That's apart from the Swiss one into LCY ... On the very rare occaisons we carried explosives or Munitions of War [ MUN on the loadsheet ] , we'd need overflight clearances from all countries we passed over , and route reflected...
