Re: Aircraft Graveyard Video

Kevin , Perhaps it's the word accounts ... Our son was/is pretty good at maths /arithmetic ...but his English comprehension was pretty awful . Only ever met one person who worked in accounts ..and she left to go cabin crew pretty quickly . Thus have no knowledge of their corporate mind set . The rum...

Re: Aircraft Graveyard Video

Joe , The RB211 fan fiasco which helped bankrupt RR , caused a big delay in obtaining more thrust . thus GE got to 50,00lbs with it's CF6-50 first . MDD putting centre wheel on the 10 allowed significant increase in weight , thus getting Europe-W. Coast US range on the -30. Manufacturing was cheaper...

Re: Aircraft Graveyard Video

Thanks for this . For Victorville to fill up is amazing ; it's massive . Just shows the state of play , even for freighters like the 'Deaf Cruizer and it's big bro' More Deaf 2 . By all accounts Tristar more advanced and nicer handling than MDD offerings , can only comment on Tristar . Which was gre...

Re: Screenshots in MSFS - HDR

With hat , coat , door open ... perhaps it's because of the old Rules of The Air .. Rule 5 , no closer than 500' from any person , vessel , vehicle , or structure ! Or Anything to do with modern 'pootering for 'fotos .......having to set aperture , shutter speed , 'filum speed ...... Car running rea...

Re: Question regarding the PA28 - Archer 111

Lots of info here gents , all good . CS and TS , I have seen an a/c with that RPM restriction ...cannot remember what engine it was . The more modern Lycoming O-320s in 172s and Pa 28s , don't have that problem . Thanks Nev , was at it again on Fri. '' Dancing shoes '' in Gone Sick . Never really sa...

Re: Question regarding the PA28 - Archer 111

Nigel , think you have most of the info for the TAS indicator .. Never used one as all we're really interested in is IAS. TAS calculated on Whizz wheel for navigation. The white arc up to a max of 103 kts is allowable flap range . The Pa 28-161s of the AbbasAir school have 160hp Lycoming O-320s. We ...

Re: Two rare sightings

CS , like you I wonder . BAC 111s on start the Speys sound like a sewing machine on wind up . Tristars Rb 211 22cs like a rumbling diesel starting . The Darts whine , garrett APUs whistled hi pitch , I guess due to hi RPMs [ C40,000 on similar Artoustes and Paloustes ]. A400s sometimes are around 3t...

Re: Two rare sightings

CS , Amazing how when a subject is discussed with back and forth , the memory cells from 30 yrs ago are reactivated . Don’t think that’s in aircrew human factors training . You’ve brought it back to life .. ATPs were started [ I think ] with props in feather position , when core running , the prop w...
