Re: Ortho4XP

It does take quite a while. I just batch up a series of tiles (up to 15) and set it on its way. I can leave Ortho to do its thing while I do something else. I'm replacing tiles I had done previously so this is long slog number 2.

Re: Observer's badge, anyone?

Surely points mean badges Mike? Can I have a SU Badge or SUB for short? I've leave you to fill in the meaning of SU :) .

Re: Ortho4XP

Hi Nigel, unfortunately not but with your processor ought to make short work of the processing. On average it takes me about 13 minutes to complete a tile.

Re: Observer's badge, anyone?

I forgot to add that we would be able to see the tree line better if somebody hadn't stuck a Bristol Beaufighter Mk.V in front of it.

Ortho4XP

For existing users of Ortho4XP there's a new version out - version 1.3. I haven't explored all aspects of it yet but there's an improved handy preview function to let you view a tile before you commit to downloading it. There's also a new source (Arc) that appears to be an improvement, overall, on B...

Re: Observer's badge, anyone?

It's a fairly grainy photograph taken on what looks like a gloomy winter's day but difficult to tell because it's in black and white. There's a fairly sparse copse or line of trees in the background with what might be a small structure on it's left hand edge. And where that was taken is either overr...

Re: P3D or X Plane

Having just done a flight from Lyons to Courchevel in the Eclipse 550 in X-Plane with Ortho tiles for the Alps and X-Europe 5 all I can say is that X-plane with some selective free enhancements can be stunning. The landing was a touch hard (okay too hard - wrecked the gear) but the take off down tha...

Re: Hmmmmmmm.....

Seems well established practice to me. What grade of concrete would you like in the nose of that shiny new Tornado - a bit of C40 should do nicely! Maybe we could use them as mobile football pitches? Instant stadia, no need to build your own. Interesting job for a ball boy/girl (only good swimmers n...

Re: More X-Plane Stuff - Gazelle

Managed to get the Gazelle up and down in what might be described as controlled flight. The manual suggests assigning throttle to Wing Sweep to operate the helicopter throttle and rotor brake but that leaves the collective with no direct control. As far as I could see there's no non-joystick option ...
