Re: HP Herald power settings.

Just about completed a major overhaul of the now dated Herald panel for my own use on my antique system, now over 18 years old and still satisfying my needs. The power settings are pretty standard for most Dart 7 powered aeroplanes; climb /cruise 14200 RPM/730’C. Climb 150kt until rate reduces to 50...

Re: FSX Freeware: Fokker F27-500

No, nothing to do with me

But by coincidence, I made a new Air France Poste 500F panel at the beginning of the year, not identical but very similar layout. Not for public release, but I’ve enjoyed a good 400 hours night flying on it.

What is it they say about buses…

Re: British Airways Vanguard

Hi Ben,

Thanks, hope you're well too. :)

I have adjusted my fleet accordingly, hope to have done it to a standard of which Garry would approve :worried:

Cheers

British Airways Vanguard

Came across this photo, G-APEU sporting BA titles. I remember my late good friend Garry Russell was sure the closest a passenger Vanguard got to BA livery was G-APEI, which inexplicably carried British Airways Cargo titles when returned to passenger service following an abortive sale/lease to the re...

Re: Turnhouse 1971

Yes, it’s what was turned into the cargo apron. They started parking nose in about 1971, prior to that they self manoeuvred with the aid of a marshaller. Think the new runway was started around 1975, and opened before the new terminal in 1977. I have a brick from that old terminal somewhere which I ...

Turnhouse 1971

Came across this excellent footage, with sound, of a dreary late morning at Edinburgh’s Turnhouse Airport in 1971. Didn’t think I’d see or hear a Vanguard belting down the old 13 runway again. Superb, hadn’t seen that since at least 1974. They routinely landed on 31 and took off on 13. The Cambrian ...

Re: The First Heathrow and the Piper McKay Viscount

Hi Ken, The passage quoted by Dave is correct, can't think why it should be different on later manuals *-) The airspeed lock was inoperative on BEA Viscounts fitted with the SEP2 system throughout the aircraft life. This may have been partly due to the complex and constantly changing Vno figure on 8...

Re: Garry's Bristol Freighter

I'm sure we, or rather Garry, did Seaboard, as I did the titles if my memory serves me correctly. I think at least one BAF livery was done too. I was so long ago now I've no idea which beta version they fitted, but will see what I've got.

Cheers

Re: Garry Russell

Thanks for posting this sad news Dave.

Garry was a good friend, we used to sympathise with each other as being the world's two most obsessive Viscount addicts. In reality, he'd forgotten more than I knew historically. A huge talent and a proper gent, I will miss him enormously.
