Re: Courchevel

I was skiing just two valleys away from that place last week. Friends of mine did go there and had lunch next to the airport, I'll see if I can get some photos to post here as it is quite a place for a runway. There's an even smaller strip near Val Thorens that is used by Jodel ski-planes in good we...

Re: Sir Edmund Hillary

A sad loss indeed. I did a bit of a double take when I read about it in the papers this morning as just last night I had been reading an excerpt from Tenzing Norgay's account of their first ascent of Everest. Actually, in that account Tenzing says that Sir Edmund was the first to set foot on the top...

Re: More VC10 performance info online now

Hi Dave, Time of the year indeed, you guys were quick in installing the phpBB 3 release candidate but I chose to wait until the full release. That was just before Christmas which gave me something to do in the holidays ;-) I may add some other small items to the site in the next weeks but I'm due to...

Hello all and a very good 2008 to you! With thanks to Paul Robinson (I think he posts on here as well) I've now got a significantly large chunk of performance data from an East African Airways Super VC10 performance manual up on my site. So for those who want to make their flightsim experience that ...

Re: Book Request

I think I've got the bottom one (it's been a while since I've seen it). I could scan some stuff for you if you want but I'd be happy to send it over too, just let me know. I'll go and check if it's the right one tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Look at this '10...!

Stone me! Anyone know what the reason was behind the 'Stealth' scheme on this? http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=477633&nseq=7 Looks amazing mind you.. the black just makes the A/C look even more fantastic IMO. You could probably give a 10 a Mr Blobby colour scheme and it would still no...

Re: Your first flight 'Sim'?

Sublogic (later MS) FS 1 on a home-built Apple IIe. Scenery consisted of a square area with raster lines, 3 airfields and a 'mountain range' on one side. I've posted screenshots before of this, I'll see if I can find them.

Re: Amazed by this

I'm sure Tonks will come up with the correct answer but in my view Ben is correct. As an engine ages the relationship between throttle position and RPM changes due to internal clearances and temperatures, and that's without the mechanical adjustment in the cables from flightdeck to nacelle. Because ...
