Re: TFDi MD-11 price.

Much of the MD-11's systems were developed by a person no longer with the company and my understanding is that's where the issues come from.

Re: TFDi MD-11 price.

Strange that they have given a price for the model, without an imminent release date. I like the look if it, but depends on what else is out there by the time it is released, whether I buy it or not. Dale I think they're doing this as much to test the market as they are trying to generate hype and ...

Re: TFDi MD-11 price.

$120 for a study-level aircraft with multiple versions is in line with what others are charging (like PMDG) for similar levels of aircraft. Don't disagree it's steep, but I thought the same with the PMDG releases of late until I actually went back and did a reality check and realized the original 73...

Re: Yet Another F35 Lost!

Actually the opposite. They ended up slow which caused the approach to end up short. Whether this was due to engine malfunction or pilot error is what hasn't been answered publically. I'm sure they know by now exactly what happened, but that's why it hit the fantail - ran out of energy as it arrived...

Re: Yet Another F35 Lost!

Welp, looks like a fantail strike. No word on if it was engine and/or aircraft malfunction or pilot malfunction, but yeah, it hit the fantail HARD. https://www.stripes.com/theaters/asia_pacific/2022-02-07/f-35c-crash-uss-carl-vinson-leaked-video-footage-south-china-sea-4770546.html?fbclid=IwAR1UJfYU...

Re: Yet Another F35 Lost!

Further update. There is video confirmed as authentic. Not sure what it shows (maybe a fantail strike?), but I'm not sure how much weight to put in the text beyond the "waggle of the tail feathers" being because it's going through the somewhat disturbed air behind the carrier (not unusual,...

Re: Yet Another F35 Lost!

A picture has circulated of the plane floating after impacting the water. I suspect there's much less concern over picking it up because the Navy was probably able to get bouys or similar onto it since it appears that it floated at least for a little bit. What sucks is that this appears to be the se...

Re: Cheap at half the price

It depends on what the terms of the contract are. Nowadays, most military contracts include not just the base item, but a certain amount of included spares, support, and other services for each unit acquired, so the question needs to be not just how much are they paying per unit, but how much suppor...

Looks like a promising start there Mike! Can't wait to see what tangents this takes you on for little "do-dads" that you can now make.

Re: Really Pleased to Read.........

The funniest part is that the Russians have now released video of their "Warning Shots" and instead proved themselves to be lacking (again). Here's the thing, the "weapon" they were using to fire warning shots was an AK-630, a CIWS (Close In Weapons System) designed for small boa...
