Re: VC10 smoke in FSX (Accelleration)

This is a known problem when porting a FS9 aircraft over to FSX due to ACES (the creators of FSX) switching two of the axes around for the smoke configuration data. Have a look at this thread for more info on smoke..... http://www.cbfsim.org/cbfsim/cbfsBB/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14798&st It's a ...

Re: BOAC beauty

Yup, no such thing as 'elf 'n' safety in those days! :)

However, if you look closely at that photo you will notice that none of their right hands are showing so my guess is they are hanging onto something behind them (spar or a rope maybe) to give them some sense of security.

Re: BOAC beauty

I just flipped through all 460 pages of the C-97 manual I have here and nowhere does it give a cut-away shot of the wings to check the spacing of the ribs/longerons. Re: BOAC beauty

Eddie, and everyone else too, one thing that strikes me in this picture is the number of rivets in the trailing half of the wing. There seems to be a row of rivets every few inches , and I wonder if thats accurate ? It looks very effective...but were there that many rivets ? The only decent...

Re: BOAC beauty

It's true that many flights ended with only three engines in working order. With 28 cylinders per engine there was a lot of stuff that could go wrong and often did. I think the prop throwing habit was also one of the reasons for the armour plating fitted to the fuselage in line with the props. With ...

Re: AVG..?

For what it's worth I switched from AVG to the free Avast version about a year ago and I have been very happy with it. It is powerful and does the job it is supposed to without being 'bloatware'. It has saved my butt several times during that period as it found viruses in downloads before they were ...

Re: Well Done Lewis!!

Garage order in the pit lane is usually based on standings in the previous year's Constructor's Championship IIRC with the winner getting the pit closest to the exit of pit lane. That's why McLaren had the first pit this year (i.e. closest to the entrance) as they were 'robbed' of all their points l...

Re: The truthabout the 'infamous' Lighting incedent!

A truly riveting report, thanks for posting it.

I agree with Leif and think both pilot and aircraft had luck on their side that day.
