60th Anniversary of the Llandow Tudor V crash

There was a nice item on Wales Today tonight about the 60th anniversary of the Llandow air crash where a private chartered Avro Tudor V G-AKBY returning rugby fans from an international in Dublin stalled and crashed at Llandow just within sight of the destination airfield. At the time it was the wor...

Facebook Site for Supporters of Llanbedr Airfield reopening

Some of you will be aware of the ongoing delay to the reopening of the former RAF Llanbedr for commercial use here on the west coast of Wales, which has Welsh Assembly Government, Local Council and virtually unanimous local support but which is being obstructed by perverse (and I speak as a retired ...

Re: Cars You Have Driven

I'm sure the latest Peugeots are much better although having driven works pool car 405 estates a couple of times which were allegedly turbodiesel but which had turbo-lag measured in weeks, not ideal when driving around Birmingham and you've got a two second window to get out of a sidestreet before a...

Re: Cars You Have Driven

My first car was a VW Beetle on which the heat exchanger (which basically piped air around a box on the exahust to heat the car) had rotted through giving you the choice of ice on the inside or carbon monoxide poisoning, had two different keys, and was missing the cover to the battery which was unde...

Re: Another sad fact...

Not quite in the same league but I'm currently learning Welsh which although probably in a stronger position than many of the languages in that article, is still suffering the after affects of hundreds of years of often officially encouraged decline. Having seen just how much history and culture is ...

Re: Coventry airport closed with immediate effect.

More from Banad, apparently the CEO of the company hoping to buy Coventry was interviewed on local BBC Parish Pump FM and seemed quite upbeat. Thomas Frankl, CEO of Airport Development Partners has just been interviewed on local radio about their plans for Coventry Airport. He said "unless we f...

Re: Coventry airport closed with immediate effect.

Posted tonight on the Birmingham Airport BANAD forum, not sure of the source but looks official: Councillor Kevin Foster of Coventry City Council has today made it known that they have reached an agreement with Airport Development Partners s.a. (ADP)of Lausanne, Switzerland to take over the lease of...

Re: A BA flight to Dublin

Strange how liveries can generate such diverse reactions! Personally, I disliked the "red tail" (or "Carnaby Street") livery with a passion, I thought it garish, boring, old fashioned and hideous, especially compared to the predecessor BOAC and BEA liveries which were much better...

Re: VC10 to end Pax carrying?

I know I've mentioned this before and it can't happen but it is a shame the RAF can't allow some enthusiast pleasure flights to say goodbye, to raise funds for Service charities or similar. Would be a great way of raising funds but of course it's not what the RAF is in the business of so won't happen.
