Re: HS748 Engine Failure

I'm not sure why the engine restarts on the ground but suspect it is an FSX thing. A microswitch shorts out the relight system with the weight on the wheels, and I suspect that because FSX doesn't do continuous toggling of the starter as in FS9, the cut-out on touchdown does the job, allowing a sing...

Re: Bac 1-11 APU problem

David has created much localised coding throughout, as I would have done, and therefore
there is a serious risk that altering one part may break something else, so I don't want to interfere
with it ;)

Re: Bac 1-11 APU problem

It's generally to do with the starter code; FS9 toggles the starter on and off repeatedly until the engine lights, whereas that won't work in FSX, you need a separate command to turn it off again, so processing, as opposed to mouse click commands don't work.

Re: Viscount question

Hi Nigel :hello: As Ben mentioned, the rate of climb is incidental. You fly the airspeed. On all types once cleaned up after takeoff and climb/cruise power is set, accellerate to 180kt and maintain that speed. On all but the Viscount 810, which is more powerful, this will yield an initial climb rate...

Re: Problem with the new Viscount

I'm stabbing in the dark as in over a hundred flight hours I've not come across this *-) As an experiment, try both adhering to, and then contradicting the checklist during descents; ie fuel trim set to zero, power 80 psi, then do it again with fuel trim 100%, power 80-100 psi and see if there's any...

Re: Problem with the new Viscount

How on earth can you have a VC in a model built without one?

Fascinated to know *-)

Re: Problem with the new Viscount

Hello Kim, I've not come across this wobbling phenomenon thankfully. You do have to keep an eye on the speed at all times during the climb. Initial climb speed is 180 kt on all types, and this should be maintained by adjusting pitch manually or though the autopilot. When the vertical spee...

Re: The old and the new... ish

At the risk of causing offence, as a Landor lover, I think the old lady wouldn't have looked
out of place a decade after BA retirement :hide:

Re: The old and the new... ish

Nice shots Ben  I've always had a soft spot for the 757 too. Never been a great fan of RT on anything, seemed a step backwards from the classic BEA and BOAC liveries, and all the nice divisionalised variations. Remember seeing G-AWZK at the Heathrow maintenance base from a passing bus, pro...

Re: British aviation on the telly

Bl**dy good, I thought, for an hour's summary aimed at the layperson.

Looking forward to Viscounts next week :tunes:
