Yup! If you look at the checklist, Safety valve needs to be open for engine start, and closed on the taxi checks. (DMs Checklist and the AA one). If you leave it open, as the aircraft pressurises, it just dumps the air overboard - end result - no pressurization

Re: Klaxon on BAC 1-11
I usually set the cabin altitude at about 20% (6,600 ft for FL330) of the cruising level on pre-flight. Wind it down to destination airfield elevation at top of descent. Works fine for me.

Then if there's nothing against it, I'll do it!
As I work in commercial aviation real world, I do try and keep my FS stuff as close to that as possible.

Re: Klaxon on BAC 1-11
Set up on pre-flight checks, so shouldn't be. Plus rubber jungle dropping out down the back-end with self-loading freight screaming "We're all gonna die", usually followed by press headlines along the lines of "Jet in Terror Plunge!". Crew would normally monitor that the cabin wa...

Re: Go with Noakes...The Red Arrows
I remember as a kid going to visit friends of the family in Stroud, not too far away from Kemble. We used to pop up their and watch 'The Arrows' practising. Across the far side were quite a few Argosies awaiting disposal. 2 Gnats had a head-to-head mid-air there whilst practising the Synchro-Pair ro...

Re: Alitalia in Trouble?
Alitalia have been losing money hand over fist for years now, the Italian government signing of on a blank cheque year after year. Debts have piled up to in excess of £1billion. If they go belly up, a lot of people owed money by Alitalia, face a difficult time too. Much as it is a name that has been...
