After backing everything up onto a couple of DVDs, I got to the point where I've downloaded the latest video driver and version of directX and done a fresh vanilla installation of fs9. No 9.1, no add-ons no nuffink. Now if I run fs9 immediately after the installation it sees the Radeon card and runs...

Wouldn't be Monaco '84, would it? Nige went horsing off into the lead after overtaking Prost, then spun off by applying power while one wheel was on a white line! Nowadays with traction control we would not even have noticed the electronics fighting with the difference in grip between the rear tyres...

OK, tried that - and couldn't see any option in the umpteen tabs that let me switch on software acceleration. That does not mean it isn't there, I just couldn't find it. So I went ahead and re-installed fs9, and got back to 20 FPS late last night. Well, Law & Order had finished - and I don't hav...

Mesh Impact on FPS

I've been experimenting with the fsgenesis 38m mesh for the US and run into a major headache with the FPS impact. The graphics card is just the beast that came with the machine, a Radeon 9200 128Mb lump, so I've kept the video settings at a pretty basic level to ensure about 20 FPS. Once I'd added t...

Jet Set ITV Prog

Last night on STV there was the first of a new "fly-on-the-wall" series about a Tornado conversion course at Lossiemouth. Is this not being shown elsewhere in ITV land, or has a security blanket been drawn over the activities of the Scottish Air Force in case English eyes are watching? Usu...

Apologies - the system gave me a strange error about emails and did not seem to send the post.

They don't come any more static than the bottom of a deep hole, mercifully free of bits of pilot or passerby.

Sure you weren't trying to drum up some passing trade Dave? That shoulder mounted SAM launcher from the wife for Christmas might not go down too well with Trading Standards.

The reason that I heard for the Pan Am service into Berlin was that initially only the "Controlling Powers" (I forget the exact phrase) were allowed to fly along the designated corridors into Berlin from the West. So BEA, Air France and Pan Am were the only airlines allowed in. Today I got...

Funnily enough I've been up to Inverness twice in the last few weeks, and stopped alongside the Wellington memorial on Loch Ness each time. A quick circuit makes me think it's a keeper (but then so are all his others!) Just remember to read the readme first and get the folder name right. I didn't, b...

Thanks, the fs9.cfg deletion has provided a part fix, so it looks like a reload to see if that fully fixes it. Just have to track down my 9.1 download and then the disk 4 fix. They're on a backup CD round here somewhere.....
