Not a lot of flying memoirs in this, but it is about the wartime RAF. If you don't get a wee bit emotional at the last sentence, I don't know what will get you going! AN absolute stonker of a read. Someone (not sure where I heard or read it now) mentioned something similar, with a sign up either for fuel or a quarter pounder and fries, can't remember which. I was sure it was just a joke, but maybe not :lol:

Hey all/Peter,

I'm quite happily running the Trident on some Edinburgh-London shuttles but I'm just curious - in reality what was the normal fuel load, and what would be the typical flight profile, especially max altitude?

Just to mention, 4 Fins in tight formation with a fifth trailing passed low over Longniddry (12 miles east of Edinburgh) tracking WSW around 12.30 - wonder what that was all about?

Not sure what you want really as that is not how things are worked out. A regularly used runway has its own take-off performance graph that will allow you to work out what the max take-off weight will be for given conditions of wind and temp (with another graph for pressure) are...
