Re: UK Can't Even Build Locomotives Now??

Not at all

I'd rather the Government did whatever it takes to ensure it gets done in Britain

Other countries protect their industries.

Not doom and gloom, but fact...how much industry has already gone putting millions out of work and reduced the ability of the country to stand up on it's own.

Re: UK Can't Even Build Locomotives Now??

Yep...the building still stands and looks god, but, the foundations are being removed. Tart it up as much as you like, it's only a matter of time. The people who make these decisions do well out of it and when it all falls down years later they are long gone and it's someone else's problem. Ultimate...

Re: UK Can't Even Build Locomotives Now??

I did mention at best building products from other countries. My issue is that it's not a totally British product an these over seas companies can drop the deal any time. We lose the ability to design from scratch. I know they are building them in the UK but it is working for non UK design and losin...

Re: Your First Airfix Model?

Airfix had a contract to make some models of a tractor. They did injection moulding making things like combs. Problem was the cost of the tractor models was too high. It was suggested that instead of supplying the models they supply the parts in kit form and let the customer put it together. The pla...

Re: UK Can't Even Build Locomotives Now??

Can't meaning not being allowed to/un supported as much as not able to. No orders no design progress...not support for local industry and maybe certain favours in place. The industry still exist but won't for long if this is trend, well it won't be an industry making home grown, just putting togethe...

UK Can't Even Build Locomotives Now??

Although I have no doubt these are a great improvement, I don't see why the UK industry cannot match them or even exceed the spec.

Probably the usual lack of will where it matters.

Re: Your First Airfix Model?

The Vanguard I saw on the ATF they other day was totally bodge up. Awful panel lines were added and the stripe was in the wrong place. In reality it can be made to look a lot better than that. What is this modern fixation wit rescribing panel lines that can be seen from miles away??? The Vanguard is...

Re: Your First Airfix Model?

Matchbox kits were multi coloured to save painting for youngsters...yeah right. They did the Red Arrows Gnat in Red and Yellow. Quite a few Airfix kits were in that light blue plastic. Alex I always had a soft spot for the Anson. Despite several box changes thery always showed the slanted windscreen...
