Re: Heads Up: FS9 Bloom

Same here. I'm far too jealous of what FPS I have to give any up.

Re: New updates...

I learned long, long ago to wait a minimum of six months before even thinking about installing MS service packs. Gives time for most of the worst bugs to be found and documented, and for MS to find ways to fix the more blatant ones. Guess it'll be sometime about late November before I see if SP3 is ...

Re: I am coming to love this little bird

As far as I'm concerned this aircraft is right at the top of my "Best Add-ons" list, along with David's Comet and Trident. All three are works of art that put the vast majority of (grossly overpriced) payware aircraft to shame where quality and functionality are concerned. Thank you, Mr. M...

Re: Planes of Fame at Chino, CA

As much as I love airplanes there's no way I would have been out in that heat today. I had to run an errand about 3pm (temp was about 100°F/37.8°C) and that was bad enough, no way i could have walked the display line without a paramedic in attendance!

Re: Hitching a ride...

Uncontrolled airfield, CTAF only and no comms required - advised, but not required. This is a pretty typical low-wing/high-wing accident. Each aircraft was in the other's blind spot, and if they weren't both communicating intent on the CTAF frequency - or doing a good job looking for other traffic -...

Re: From Anti-Virus to Firewall

I've been using the WinXP firewall since XP SP2 came out with no problems. Of course, I'm also behind a hardware firewall in my router as well (belt AND suspenders, that's me). For anti-virus I use AVG and haven't had a single infection in forever. Added protection comes from SpyBot. Am I bulletproo...

Re: Has the tide turned? FSX or FS9?

At risk of minor thread necromancy... I have both FSX and FS9 installed on my system, 2 FS9 installs (vanilla and Golden Wings conversion), 1 FSX. Most of my modern flying (post-1970) is done in FSX, post-WWII to early jets in FS9 with retro sceneries from CalClassic.com, and pre-WWII in Golden Wing...
