To go or not to go Prepar3d v5.1, that is the question
Hi, With apologies to the Bard for paraphrasing Hamlet's soliloquy! I have been running FSX for years but since upgrading my PC and investing in a few nice new turboprops and scenery I am constantly getting OOMs in FSX. I don't want to jump into the new Microsoft sim for a while so I am looking at P...

Re: FSX memory problem
Ben/Dale, Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty sure that the addons are killing it. I flew for years on my old PC but I just had ScotFlight and more lowly payware aircraft. I'll try a few flights in England where I only have the Leeds/Bradford addon but I suspect I am being too optimistic with my FSX ...

FSX memory problem
I've recently upgraded my PC with MFS in mind, although I'm waiting a little while before jumping into the new sim. With all this new memory and power I have uploaded ORBX Scotland, SIM720 airports and Carenado various regional turboprops into FSX. Unfortunately I am constantly running out of memory...

Re: Graphic card settings
Hi Ben, Thanks for the suggestions. I tried windowed mode, no difference. I switched anti-aliasing on and trilinear filtering in the sim and already had the settings in the Nvidea control panel. Again, no difference. I normally run with about a 60% zoom out but if I zoom in around 80% it is better b...

Graphic card settings
Hi, I've just upgraded to a new PC that might just run the new MS flight simulator. As ever when I change to a new graphics card, in this case an Nvidia RTX2060 super, I get real problems trying to get decent anti-aliasing. No matter what I try I cannot get FSX to look as good as it used to on my pr...

Re: Anyone understand Train Sims ?
Thanks for the link Nigel. I looked at the video and the software but having spent many years in software development, then retired from it, I've had my fill of destroying my brain cells trying to make complex software work. I like a quieter, less stressful life now so I think I'll just keep using t...

Re: Anyone understand Train Sims ?
Thanks for your help in finding the keystrokes to run the trains. I'm finding it great fun but with my fairly elderly PC and graphics card some very high temperatures are being reached on long journeys!! One thing I can't figure out. Is it possible to link the controls on my CH yoke to the sim? It w...

Re: Anyone understand Train Sims ?
Fascinated by this thread and being a lifelong railway enthusiast I downloaded TSW - took ages but got there in the end. So far I'm not enjoying it but that might be because, unlike FSX etc., there doesn't seem to be any "idiots guide" or even keystroke function lists to make operating the...

Re: EGPB Sumburgh Airport
Oops! Completely missed the forum header Simon, just saw the posting.
Aharon, interesting reasoning but as Sumburgh is still most definitely British I guess that it can qualify for the main CBFS Forum. That said, very few aircraft flying into EGPB daily are British, sadly.

Re: EGPB Sumburgh Airport
Hi Simon, I'm a bit puzzled by your comment about Sumburgh being British. That's a given seeing as the Shetland Islands are part of the UK. What made you think that any of us that posted suggested otherwise? Of course Sturgeon (Scottish First Minister for those who don't know our odd political situa...
