On FR24 a couple of days ago there was a DC8-71F landing at Prestwick. Can’t recall who owned it though. *-)EricT
Most likely this one -

Re: How to fly a DC4.

Not minimizing what you saw or that it wasn't dangerous in that case. Just saying that while I've had apprehension about a lot of displays when I watch them in person, having gotten to know performers and seeing some of the "behind the scenes" that these guys put in made me much more comfo...

Re: How to fly a DC4.

I don't see how it's unsafe, or unwatchable. The video is unsettling for me because I've witnessed two fatal accidents at airshows, and another incident which was inches away from a disaster that would have killed dozens of spectators. Consequently, I get quite nervous during such displays that pus...

Re: How to fly a DC4.

Is a Dc4 cleared for chandelles ? I'll bet it's not, and the manoeuvre which gave me most concern was what looked as though it was meant to be a wingover but which developed into what looks like a half roll, ( about 2:20 to 2;30) and that I am certain is not an approved manoeuvre. There have been f...

Re: How to fly a DC4.

I'm honestly wondering where the foolhardy is in the display? The 2 maneuvers at 1:50 and beyond are both variants of a Chandelle or Emergency 180 and the only danger is if he unloaded the airplane and then loaded it back, but it doesn't look like that happened. This was a practiced and often flown ...

S'cuse me for being ignorant but thought hovercrafts were no longer used!! :dunno: Both excellent links. Thanks for that Nigel. As for the Hovercraft, apparently this is the operator - https://www.hovertravel.co.uk/ They operate the Griffon 12000TD - https://www.griffonhoverwork.com/products/hoverc...

Re: Could not resist a sale.

I have both the PC-12 and Citation (but in P3D) and while I agree the manuals aren't great, thankfully, both aircraft have pretty extensive free resources with checklists and performance numbers available and the planes operate closely enough. There are also some pretty good mods available for both,...

Re: FR24 Down?

Both FR24 and Flightaware have been repeatedly attacked in the last week by who know (and really, who cares - idiots the whole lot). Unfortunately, it's not a simple problem to solve as they seem to be DDOS (distributed enial of service) attacks, which are hard to defend against and relies pretty he...

Re: Video: American Freestyle Bullfighting

I'm sorry guys, but as someone who's been around Rodeo for many years, I hate to see the continued ignorance being shared. The flank rope is not a "cruel rope". A properly seated strap is snug, but not tight (most people compare the proper tightness to that of a corset or girdle). It is no...
