Re: Another One Bites the Dust!

I've not commented before during this thread, feeling a bit upset by past events in my own family. But thinking back to the good times, perhaps somewhat irreverent, to me this emphasised Ian's sense of humour. You've only got to look at the responses to know that he recognised his audience ;) http:/...

Re: Fokker F27

Possible it could be one of two:

PH-KXX or PH-JXK - depends on the additional text on the fuselage! Discounting PH-JXJ because of the additional logo on the tail.

Re: Nightmareliner Fire Closes LHR

Agree with comment - have a read of the AvHerald article http://avherald.com/h?article=45c377c5&opt=0

A bit premature to lump it with the battery problems but seems like batteries are at the front and APU is at the back (but also some batteries?)

Re: Nightmareliner Fire Closes LHR

First arrival to reopened LHR was Lufthansa A320 that had declared PAN because of low fuel and was being fast-tracked to Luton but then at last minute in...

Re: Windows 8.1

I went from XP to Win7 so that gives an idea of my OS refresh rate. I've still got an unopened copy of Win7 ready for the next laptop that comes with Win 9/10. Current laptop came with OEM Win7 so didn't need it. And my OS refresh is faster than the company I work for which tends to influence my thi...

Re: BA engine issue at Heathrow

I prefer to read the AAIB version rather than some journalist's interpretation: http://www.aaib.gov.uk/publications/special_bulletins/s3_2013___airbus_a319_131__g_euoe.cfm And it seems there have been previous instances - lot of chatter on PPrune about that - and confirmed by comment on final page o...

Re: Buying from abroad and taxes?

very nice card stating that customs wanted payment before they can release the camera And the Post Office charged you a sum for the privilege of collecting the duty - around £8 as I recall. if the goods are marked up as a gift then you don't pay anything on it Not guaranteed - and of course lying a...

Re: Few More Pics

Googling the registrations comes up with Volvo 7900. Seems like chassis and bodywork are combined: http://www.volvobuses.com/bus/global/en-gb/products_services/buses/City%20buses/volvo_7900_hybrid/Pages/Introduction.aspx The days of separate chassis and coachwork may have gone - not the same as Lond...
