Re: UK Current account advice

I think the current company expenses systems assumes everyone has a credit card. Which is fine so long as it's not maxed out, or you've got one Bit of a shock to the system when I moved from an old world company where plane tickets, hotels, etc were all booked and paid for by the company in advance ...

Re: UK Current account advice

I use my credit card for company expenses which are paid by the time the bill comes round.

If that doesn't work for you, ask for a company credit card or see if they will pay the £6 a month.

Re: Old and Interesting Books

Didn't recognise some of those RAF types. Googling them indicates they were mostly not the most successful examples of their type.

Several types were diverted to the RAF as a result of the fall of France but after evaluation did not see front-line service.

Re: Must be new job week!

Dave, Agreed. But unless there was Riviere and a Riviera at the same time, memories from 100 years ago can become jumbled. It wasn't a "warship" in the traditional sense (a car ferry). And maybe there was some secrecy around the conversion to carry seaplanes. All conjecture of course. Ian

nearest I can find after a quick search:

and more than just a trawler if correct!

edit: you Navy types - would there have been a Riviere and a Riviera at the same time? Can only find Riviere in WW2

Re: Got to make a decision guys - Time for a career change?

Not sure I've ever had a "life plan" But yes lots of forks in the road where you wonder which way to go and then hope it is the correct decision. Ok, I suppose making the decision is a lifeplan. Looking back, I had to make two big decisions when I didn't really know what it would lea...

Re: Got to make a decision guys - Time for a career change?

Interesting that quite a lot of the comments have been around pensions. You might think "what else from a lot of old fogeys?" but it is a very important topic that youngsters tend to ignore until too late. A final salary pension scheme is very valuable - you know what you are going to get ...
