Re: PC Security Software

PCPro came up with some different answers. But this was testing for AV+malware protection which can be different from just AV. Nothing to read at the PCPro website at the moment but from the magazine Avast was the best free AV - better than some of the paid software. Not sure how one interprets any ...

Re: Hope For The Belfast??

Looking at this set me thinking that I seem to recall seeing a Belfast parked at RR Hucknall sometime in the 70's or80's.
I have XR370 and XR371 logged at Hucknall on 1st October 1978.

Be reassured your mental facilities in full working order.

Re: Revell 1/24 Routemaster Double Decker

Deja vu. Number 37 Routemaster used to run 1/2 mile from where I lived as a youngster but not as new as that model (E reg=1967). Think 37 route still exists but not as a Routemaster. Don't think I ever caught it since it was quicker to walk the mile to Hounslow Bus Station (the destination on that m...

Re: SSDs and all that

Ben I've been considering an SSD and hence was reading about them. There seems to be conflicting info. One review suggested that using an SSD for large file such as when running Photoshop was the way to go but at the same time time another suggested putting the OS on the SSD. Putting the OS on is no...

Re: A Bit More Real?

So many bits of this thread to respond to: ,I remember flying with BA in a 747-400 from Heathrow to Seattle via Vancouver in 1991 I did that route on 16Dec1983 - weird when most people got off at Seattle and just a few people went on to YVR. Not allowed off at SEA so a quick bit of spotting from the...

And don't forget that the runway is not as long as it used to be. The building of the M11 shortened it (not sure by how much).

Re: Heathrow, London City and Birmingham Airport from the Ai

Third runway was 23L/05R although it only had ILS on 23L as I recall. 05R was the scene of the BOAC 707 (G-ARWE) that returned after it lost an engine after takeoff.

And don't forget there was also 33L/15R once upon a time before they built on it. I did see some landings on that in the 60s.

Re: updating xp 2002 home edition

Probably too late to be of any use now, but it is possible to "slipstream" the Service Packs into the original XP. That way you create a version that includes SP3 and you then install that. Still a fair number of updates after that but a more recent starting point. Not sure if that can be ...
