Re: Westland Whirlwind for FSX and FS2004 now freeware

The reason the S-55 may go all jittery is down to the FDE, there are basically two pure types, helo turbine or piston, each totally different and each supporting different functions, for example, the turbine FDE will not support start and stop sounds, nor will it support the rotor brake, yet the pis...

Re: Westland Whirlwind for FSX and FS2004 now freeware

Tomb One of the problems with getting it to hover level is that it will impact fwd flight, even now at full chat its nose low by too much, making the tail lighter in the hover will force the nose lower at max speed, having said that the S-55 is notthe sort of thing you roar around the countryside at...

Re: Westland Whirlwind for FSX and FS2004 now freeware

Tomb, Ok did a little more tweaking and uploaded V2.3 ( just go back to initial post and re download ), would you mind grabbing that and see how it feels ?, on my set up its a little nose heavy now, but only a little, it'd be interesting to see if thats also reflected in your set up. Thanks in advan...

Re: Westland Whirlwind for FSX and FS2004 now freeware

Hmm, thats odd, as far as I know they havent added my updated file to the download, which means the one I put up isnt the right one, I orginally only put it up for a short while to allow them to collect and update their files, then I took it down, others wanted it so I re uploaded and it looks like ...

Re: Westland Whirlwind for FSX and FS2004 now freeware

Rich, Is that 'my' IP thats blacklisted or CBFS ?, cant think why mine would be blacklisted, though I've heard odd things about these so called sites. I dont think an update will surface now, there seems to be a little change of the guard going on over at AS if I'm reading the SoH forums correctly, ...

Re: Westland Whirlwind for FSX and FS2004 now freeware

Rich, The original payware version had other gear problems, I think nose gear suspension was not working ?, on my master Beta the wheels didnt go round, but that was fixed but some other parts were not, when the model went freeware it was recompiled, better bump mapping and others bits and pieces an...

Re: UKMil no more?

Dave, We haven't always got on well in the past, but as a developer then I heartily support a break from FS, I've been out of the loop for quite a while and the interest bug is now biting again, too much of the same thing leads to drudgery, short tempers and prickly fighting, usually within. Take a ...

Re: Westland Whirlwind for FSX and FS2004 now freeware

Chris, I originally only intended it to be there until someone updated the downloadable files, not sure if that has happened so I've reinserted it back to my FTP, simply click the link to collect the revised FDE again. Sorry for your strife. Kindest Michael If you have troubles getting her trimmed (...

Re: Westland Whirlwind for FSX and FS2004 now freeware

I'm sorry but I'm afraid you might have too, Alphasim did not contact me for the revised file, nor notify me that they had collected from my link and inserted, as far as Alphasim are concerned there is nothing wrong with the original, and being the author of both I have to support, all the revised f...

Re: Westland Whirlwind for FSX and FS2004 now freeware

Thank you, I was kind of chuffed at how good it turned out with the weight and power settings, probably the best ( and only ! ) piston FDE I did and the CH-53 the best turbine FDE. I'm now porting that base FDE set into the freeware S-51 and setting it all up per specs we have in memory of Greg Pepp...
