Re: XV674 arrives..
Okey doh Colin
It's in the paint shop already but looking at pics of the real thing and the paint kit, it's turning out to be a bit more than adding titles Much of the white lettering has a black outline on these cabs which doesn't look too bad on the larger titles but looks a bit overdone on the smaller titles 'in sim'. The step indents are smaller, markings on them are different so I've changed these.. 920 doesn't have the black exhaust panel so in the interest of authenticity.. I've dispensed with that and painted soot on the fuse (ME.. PAINT SOOT!!!) and I've only touched the first map I knew I should have painted out CU on the default paint and put PW in it's place
I should have it done in a few days.. work and RW permitting

Re: XV674 arrives..
I'll have to dig around my old back ups but I am sure I did a PW Cab for the Alpha-sim (as it was at the time) Sea King.
Dave let me know if it is too much of a pain and I will try and find it.
Cheers,
Fraser

Re: XV674 arrives..
Thanks for the offer Fraser
I had a quick go at it when I came in from work. I'm not sure of the black outline on the small text and 707 on the front of the cab. I may just do that without. Here's what it looks like with outline.
What say you all

Re: XV674 arrives..
OK.. the response was earth shattering so I've redone it
I didn't like the black outlining at all and I'm not 100% convinced it was present on all airframes. On the pictures I've seen that show it.. it is so small, particularly on the smaller text as to be invisible unless you're up close so I've dispensed with it. The model looks 'in sim' like it does in many shots so that'll do. You can pick it up HERE
EDIT: Circa 2007 btw

Re: XV674 arrives..
I was going to post this morning that I thought it would look better without the outline, but I hadn't had chance to look at any reference pics to compare.
Looks good anyway Dave.

Re: XV674 arrives..
I really thought this would be straight forward but having looked at many, many shots.. the reality is much different. Some cabs do have lettering with a very thin black outline.. particularly the rear cab number, the RN Rescue titles and the single, Rescue side title. The smaller titles are a lot less defined and in many cases.. especially on older cabs, the outlining isn't visible on large or small lettering. XZ920 is a point in case. I've a shot of her with what I'm convinced are non-outlined titles.. a shot of her with just 0 on the nose.. a shot of her with 0 7 on the nose.. and a shot of her with no numbers on the nose What are these wafu's like hey! Anywho.. I went with one shot and stuck with that

Hi DaveB,
Sorry I haven't replied earlier but only just got my internet connection back following a VM 'upgrade' this morning.
That looks brilliant, TVM again for doing it. Deffo better without the outline

Re: XV674 arrives..
Cheers Colin
I've flown it around quite a bit today and I like the way it looks. I even installed Prestwick Extreme so it has a nice base to fly from
