Manfred Jahn's new freeware B-50

Post by Paul K »

If I've read the thread at SOH correctly, this was originally intended as an A.I. model but has now been released as flyable with a basic VC. I'm following said thread for guidance in grafting on the Virtavia B-29 flightdeck, but in the sim, I'm just enjoying the external model for now. This is one of the variants - there are others with the later type of perspex nose cone, and external fuel tanks.

I love the B-29 ( and so the B-50 ), and it's wonderful to see at long last the rear fuselage curve modelled correctly, from the front of the aft bomb bay back towards the tail. It's never been done right - up until now. Well done Manfred, and thank you. You are a star!

More pictures to come, but the first 'try out' flight has left me wondering once again why I ever bother with payware. This is gorgeous !

Totally agree Paul. Great model. I downloaded it a couple of days ago & merged the B29 VC into it but haven't had chance to actually fly it yet.

Dave, I'll be very interested to hear if you run into any problems with the Virtavia cockpit. I personally think that VC is one of the best things Virtavia ever did, and It deserves this lovely B-50, even if you see B-29 engines when looking out the window.

No problems apparent with the small amount of time I've had to fiddle. Monitor panel and crew voices all work as they are supposed to. This is in P3d v4 BTW.
I can post my panel.cfg if you like. :)

Oh, it may be possible to mod the B29 VC mdl to remove the wings and engines, then merge in the ones from the B50. ;) :cpu:

Yes please, Dave. I've not done anything about the VC just yet, so a copy of your panel.cfg would be very helpful.
