I like Stow too and stayed there for one night on our second visit to the Cotswolds. I also know the area you are talking about in the Wye Valley as my wife had a cousin who lived in Chepstow and we camped in the Forest of Dean once (at Easter and it snowed!). We even stood at the exact spot where a scene from the movie 'Deathly Hallows Part 1' was later shot in Symonds Yat long before J.K.Rowling wrote the first book in the series.

Yes, the Wye Valley is a beautiful place, my parents (when alive) moved down there from Nottingham my father was still working as Sales Director of ICI Fibres and his office located in Gloucester so they found a bungalow at St. Braivels overlooking the Wye Valley where the bridge crosses the Wye.

I used to love to sit outside on the patio and just admire the view especially when the trees had the Autumn tint. Simmonds Yat is also a great place to visit.

If you play the following video at 2mins 45 secs. the camera scans the Wye Valley, my parents bungalow was situated to the left and about 100ft lower from the village but this is the view they had of the Wye just before the camera tilts downwards.

Nigel,

Thanks for cool answers.

Your're welcome Aharon.

Thanks for your comments chaps, Larry it makes me homesick as well, I was born in Usk Monmouthshire and lived in Panteg until I was nearly 7 years old but this part of the country seems home to me, from where the video was taken is in Gloucestershire but further down the valley is Wales.

Regards
Nigel.
