Brooklands 1/5/06 (56K users - Caution, 18 pictures!)

Post by TobyV »

Went to Brooklands today, was the busiest I have ever seen it. The car park behind the Wellington hangar and the green field were both full so I ended up parking on the banking near where the Hennebique bridge previously stood.

In no particular order:

Image
Overview from the top of the test hill (foreground). Various emergency vehicles on display at the bottom of the hill. As can be seen most of the site is now redevloped, as business units, industrial estate, some retail and housing and now the Mercedes Benz centre.

Image
Your truly's car on the banking

One 'o them

Still a few leading edges pieces to insert and paint and the tail

Flightdeck is coming on

Image
Not much in the forward cabin yet, just a few wall panels

Image
Theres a small section of 1990s seating midway down the fuselage

And a couple for Garry and Fraser...

Hawker P.1127... not really sure why Brooklands has various Hawker types - I assume some work was subcontracted to Vickers/BAC? Or it could be because theres nothing left at Kingston or Dunsfold now?

Why thank you Mr Jones. It could do with a wash and a vacuum out though, not that you can tell from that pic. I see in that pic you posted you are stood next to a 75/ZT.

:poke:

Actually I have reason to believe the car's previous owner was an OAP... you dont get many people the right side of 65 called "Lionel" do you?

I like the design of the car and its got a good engine, always wanted one since the days of the ad for it set to "Englishman in New York" by Sting, if you remember that. Trouble is I was about 12/13 at the time!
