How could he.....................??? :dunno:
Maybe he could sneak one out to Manchester AVP! Simply tucked under his coat, no one will know.
He could always borrow Jetty's coat

Theres good money in it and people have to make a living. You'd be surprised how much the preservation and scrapping scenes overlap.

Possibly because Cosford's purpose is to preserve old time classics, but these aircraft have just run out of their useful lives.
To scrap these aircraft is a shame, but there are still a few examples of ones in operation. Cosford got rid of aircraft that no longer exist and are no longer operational. Apart from the VC10, but as we know that is only now military.

It's a real shame to see these aircraft go, but it is very much worth it for the sake of keeping the others flying. 1 aircraft flying is better than 2 static ones in my view.

What is the current situation of Airframes at Cosford? Seems to have gone a bit quiet lately...

Trident is scrapped
707 has wings cut off, might be more done to that now
AFAIK the VC10 is so far unscathed

1-11 and Viscount have not yet been dismantled for transportation.

Thanks for that update, Toby.

Is the VC10 due to be scrapped? I read on another Forum that Brooklands might be interested in it for spares for their example.

Yes Brooklands will be getting the nose and perhaps a few other bits as spares for their one or possibly as other display objects. A very small section of cockpit from the Trident is going to East Fortune.
