Great set of screen shots, it definitely raising my interest level and I think I am going to have to upgrade my system sooner than I thought. One question I have is, M$ has always had some locations that they give more detail to than others. Are they just showing us the specially enhanced scenery or is the entire world going to look like this.

That looks simply stunning. I only hope my current spec PC which was recently upgraded can cope with the demands of the sim. Another thing that concerns me is the large amount of payware I have on my HD. If its not compatible with FSX then I'm stumped!

Textures and clouds look familiar

Pictures 26 & 33 impressed me. I like the ground texture in 26.

Sorry to pee on folks parade - put they just look like high end fs9 screenines to me - seen better done by our own members (Im sure FSX will be a thing
of wonder and 75 bucks out of my pocket when delivered for not much more)

The ground textures do look a darned sight better than the standard 2004 set. Shot 27 (I think.. the suburban shot) quite took my eye.

Leif, bear in mind that what you are seeing in the FSX pics is a DEFAULT package. FS9 only looks the way it does now after two years of third party addons. The potential for FSX is going to be huge. Check out the video.

Elephants................or bullshoot?

They are only showing what they think will impress you, and if this is the best, I dread to think what the rest will be like.
As a scenery designer, I see nothing new in there.
I want to create runway's with undulations in them. I want to see the tyre marks at the ends of the runway build up over time. Not have them reset to zero everytime I fire up the sim.

I'm not impressed by this, but there again, I never am with a new sim untill I get the chance to get inside it and see what ticks.

FS9 has not impressed me after two years. I'm not holding my breath. :huf:

I reserve my judgment Erich - if they have improved the ATC system by 1000% (Im deadly serious) solved alot of the mesh problems, taken pains to better research their aircraft subjects and improve them, added a reliable working Flight planning system , more reliable weather updating than
the Jepp crapp they presently use , produced a more realisitic and usuable weight and balance system Then all the elephants, birds , downdrafts , water wakes dont make a hill of beans - Im sorry to paraphrase Tonks - It still
auint gonna be real so why should I take the geegaws and gimcracks that
I have collected for FS9 and trash them and start yet again (and Before some
one who is "closely connected to the MSFS beta team (Read BullSh*T) tells me that FS9 and FSX will be "completely compatible - get over yourselves

sorry Ill keep what I have

Leif

Postscript - I just sat and watched the videos

TombRaiders go the Gulf Coast - no longer even resembling a flight sim just another firstperson shooter - the only thing that was missing was
whatsherface Jolie hanging from the skid of the JetRanger sorry NOT my cup of tea
