I still have my "Queen's shilling" crescent shaped scar made by my issue front collar stud in the days of separate collars and shirts. We used to send our collars to a local Chinese laundry and they came back looking like light blue porcelain! Anyone else here from those days?

One of our number was apprehended by our drill sergeant for having the audacity and foolishness to appear on parade wearing a plastic moulded tie secured round the neck by elastic. He was soundly "pinged" off parade and his feet never touched the ground on the way to the Guardroom. Jankers ad infinitum for him. Anybody qualified for a type rating on the infamous "bumper?"

I qualified for Jankers, several times.
