Nice pic - lovely to see the Banana Bird in the skies again.

But tell me - did you pick her up from the base, or from the garage.

( Lossiemouth is the only town, that I know of, that has a Bucc parked on the local garage forecourt)

F.Y.I. No:632 (XK532) is alive and well and currrently on display at the Highland Aviation Museum, well worth a visit if you are ever in Inverness.

Don't think I would like to give the one at the garage a go these days - she is looking slightly the worse for wear...

I've been around Lossie for quite a few decades now and can honestly say that the navy Buccs knew how to fly :dance: Mass take-offs and circuits galore kept a young lad happy in the summer holidays. Noisy things those Tonkas and they fly till 11pm Monday to Thursday so I have deserted the telly in favour of the computer. Now, how do I change those roundels to the low viz ones

You obviously don't live 1200 metres from the end of a well used GR4 runway do you??? Oh, and the overshoots are a thing to behold as well (or hear anyway). Pretty blue flames pulsing out of the back and the whole house shaking...

On the plus side we get the display aircraft practicing twice a day for a few months. The car alarms are testament to the noise and vibration produced

Although I can see how it would get irritating when you want to go to sleep.

The Tonkas are noisy beggars, my wake-up on cadet camps at St. Athan was traditionally an early flight departing :roll: ...either that or the piper that some of our Scottish associates had bought with them. Personally, I prefred the Tonka!

Great shots of teh Bucc, it was seeing a one that got me into aviation and made me want to join the RAF. I was on holiday in Scotland when I was about 6 (1989 I believe), and had just climed a hill with my dad when one came belting past a fair way below us. The sheer racket, the fact the hill seemed to be shaking, and the speed it was going ensured that it was love at first sight!

I'm lucky enough to live 1/2 hour away from Leuchars, but I only drive half way to a place called Falkland hill. It's a great place for tonka spotting as there are quite a few of them that fly relatively low there.

As for noise, when compared to the tonka, the typhoon is a bit of a dissapointment isn't it?
