Awful event......time to think about it

Hard to tell the type but it looks like a Partenavia P.68...but it may be something Japanese

It is a Partenavia Victor - somewhere in Texas in the late 90s I believe
the videos been around the web for a while - what made it
horrifying is the guys wife was doing the announcements on the original
video - not a nice thing at all - he apparently overstressed the thing on the first pass and when he unloaded the airframe the main spar failed.

I was right then Leif

Thought it was but you can never be that sure.

They didn't use the Victor name officially in the UK to save confusion with the V bomber/tanker...yeah right :k:

Very tragic, when I saw it I though he was starting another loop but from that video it was hard to tell.

........a sad event no doubt

The Partenavia P68 was not cleared for aerobatics and it was sheer lunacy to try, the result being bilateral main spar failure as we saw. The result of this was that for some years all P68s were limited to, I think, 130kts IAS because it was thought that it was not just a g related overload, but a combination of g and speed inducing some kind of flutter. AFAIK, the limitation has now been lifted
