Earth Simulations gone!?

Post by DaveG »

Looks like Earth Simulations is no more. Message on their website states "We regret to inform you that Earth Simulations Ltd has ceased trading" :(
Sad news.

:-O

Difficult to know what to say really. Sad they appear to have gone but the direction they intended going was never going to work for me (this hi-res Scotland stuff). Wonder how we all go about re-installing scenery through that awful ESI now *-) Odd cause this has recently had a complete overhaul too!

I just found this statement on their customer feedback page.

https://earthsims.uservoice.com/knowled ... ed-trading

I guess I need to find my ESI pack backups :-(

Left them a sorry note.
I've been looking forward to Jersey. Pity about that. :(

Very sad to read this news. Earth Simulations produced the best scenery in the business and their recent NW Scotland release took scenery development to a whole new level.

Thanks to Darren and Vikki for their immense contribution to the hobby and wider community. Good luck to them for the future and I hope their love of simming is rekindled along the road.

I wonder if they hastened their own demise by not releasing all of the Scotland scenery in one go and making the packages somewhat confusing.
Luckily I have most of the scenery on disk. For the rest I hope my system backups work!

To be honest I'm using my Flight Sim less and less these days.
Wonder if anyone will produce a new simulator?

Sorry to dig up this old thread guys, but I bought Alderney and Scilly Isles on disk on Monday and they arrived today. Is it possible to install fron disk without their website? The treescapes has cone on fine, but these two don't seem to be working at all when I put the license key in. They were only a couple of quid, so no big deal either way.

Hi Ben, I have the same problem with Scilly Isles. I have been able to get the Isle of Man loaded from disk but not sure how I eventually got there.
It is something to do with the ESI that expects to find the website. Maybe someone with a better understanding can offer some advice. At the moment I'm using the UK2000 VFR airfields, but it doesn't have the photo scenery base.

I had it working from the download in FSX but since transferring to P3D V3 and 4 I've not been able to get it installed.

Good luck.

Yup..

Make sure there are no other ESI installers on your system and be offline when you do the install (disconnect from the internet). Use the installer that comes with that particular product and you'll be ok. Install the Scillies first then Alderney. Then.. look and see how many bits you've got missing
