Oculus Rift in crazy sale: Now is the time to try VR!
SCAN are selling the Oculus Rift + Touch VR Gaming System Bundle for only £398.98 instead of £598.00! This is a crazy deal! If you're wondering about trying VR I'd say now is the time. If I didn't already have one I'd be getting this deal right away.

Lend us 400 quid then Andy.
I'll pay you back when I win the lottery.

My cynical mind tells me that this "fantastic sale" is because they canny sell the things in the first place.

If I bought one of those things there would definitely be a "rift" between me and Mrs. FlyTexas.

Re: Oculus Rift in crazy sale: Now is the time to try VR!
I have been very tempted to get one, but I gave up my desktop back in the office for a laptop in the family room to be closer to everyone else. Putting these goggles on will isolate me again. Thinking I will wait.
But I'm still thinking.

Remember this 'Red Dwarf' scene? I guess it's not so silly now a days.

Do they have a deal on groinal attachments ?
Is anyone using the Rift or Vive for Flight Simming?
Wondering of it works or just a gimmick?
I'm looking at getting this at some point even if it's just a fad albeit an expensive fad,
but I'm hoping for more.

It definitely works and is definitely not a fad.
The short story: Try it and you will see what all the fuss is about and never want to fly in flight sim without one
The long story: This very day I had a long-time flight sim friend come and visit, specifically to 1) try P3D4 with great FPS, lots of scenery and autogen and yet smooth as silk; and 2) to try VR flight simming for the first time. It took a while to persuade him even to come over to give it try, but he eventually did and his reaction can be summed up in one word: WOW! There was also lots of giddy laughter! As I'd predicted he has now left with no other thoughts on his mind than "I MUST get a Rift"! Another quote was "this is the future of flight simulation". I'm happy to communicate this experience to others, as I was even beginning to doubt my own judgement, thinking maybe I was overplaying matters... but no, now I have an independent judgement too.
If there is any way at all you can get to have a go in a Rift or Vive in FS you have to do it... and you'll never look back
What the hell... if there is anyone here at CBFS who wants to visit me for a trial I hereby extend an open invitation... Just send me a PM if you reckon you're close enough or will be passing through... (note I'm not going to state exactly where I am on a public forum tho)

Re: Oculus Rift in crazy sale: Now is the time to try VR!
Okay thanks. Sounds great and much as I was expecting. I've tried the smaller mobile phone VR and while limited was equally blown away by it's immersion.
Do you use the hand motion trackers and how do you deal with not being able to see keyboard, joystick, throttles etc? Do you have to be totally HOTAS for this to work correctly?
Thanks :-)
