Meanwhile, back in the room (apologies for my part in that), I think someone mentioned a Caravelle. Pretty please it doesn't have/need a paintkit designed by a lunatic? Thanks very much in advance while I tear my hair out on this connie paintjob that I kinda wish I had never started

For sheer elegance, the DH Comet IV leads the field, closely followed by the Caravelle (which used the Comet nose section) with the A340-500 a close third.
MikeW
Is that true? The nose sections do look similar, but were they actually made by D.H for Sud Aviation / license-built in France, based on D.H.'s Comet design?

Don't forget A321 = Bendy bus ...
Trident ...pretty ? Not after 12 yrs operating them .. leads on to Comet's nose licenced to Sud for the Caravelle . And Caravelle's engine pylons licenced to DH for the Trident [ plaque on each pylon saying so ] .
'Fraid for me it was after 36 yrs ... ' if it's not Boeing , I'm not going ' on my teeshirt .

I have to agree - I don't think the Trident was a particularly attractive plane. Not ugly of course, but not pretty either. Thanks for the info on the Comet nose and Caravelle engine pylons. :)

Thanks to Dave F, and my apologies to Paul K. I had missed Paul's question altogether. Interesting snippet about the Trident engine pylons, too.
