One bit of good news is that it now appears that MS are making virtual reality one of the top priorities for MS2020. Don't know how I missed this last year. Just hope that they include Track IR as well.

One thought has also sprung to mind. One 'quote' from the attached reads:
Asobo and I have years of experience with VR. We know what a lazy and a good implementation look like. We want to bring a good solution, for example by cutting off the cockpit from the rest of the world. Then you can move freely in it, and the world in the background does not start to shimmer. We have started with VR, but we want to do it right.
Does this sound as though MS are looking to develope their own VR Headset rather than just programming the sim for other headsets? If so and where it is stated
and the world in the background does not start to shimmer.
Could they be looking at releasing a headset that not only reduces shimmering but also the screen door effect?

Could it be that MS will do whatever it takes to build a Virtual Reality Headset especially for MS2020? Another wait and see moment!!

MS have no intention in releasing a VR headset. They are very much leaders in AR which is a much more commercially attractive proposition and they’ve had lots of success in that space.

Hi Ben, AR? Excuse me for being a bit slow here but not sure what that is as it is the first time I have heard of it. Can you give me a quick tutorial?

Augmented Reality. It’s where information is displayed in on top of your vision. Surgeons use it, Rolls Royce used it on development work etc, it’s a much more useful tool and companies are happy to pay for it. VR’s uses are pretty limited as all of the big boys have found out, and interest in it is it’s current form has dropped off in recent years.

Thanks for your reply Ben, also had a look on Google and found this https://uk.pcmag.com/virtual-reality/86 ... difference.

OK, so I now know what augmented Reality is and the difference between that and VR.

Now this is seriously interesting wearing a headset with AR, now the only thing that stands in its' way?................Price!!
