I’m going to keep P3D 4.5 for the time being as it was more compatible than v5. V5 is going to go though. In saying this I haven’t had any sim on at all in the last 6-7 weeks. Real world getting in the way atm.

What a diisappointment today's sims are. My problems with 2020 have been voiced here previously and with P3DV5.1 it CTD's whenever I try to set up 3 monitors.

Never used FSX but I have been flying FS9 again, and that only ever had 1 update! I also get to fly proper stuff from the library. :excited:

For me FS2020 is OK but will be good in a year or so. The initial hype became an anti-climax, although the scenery is excellent with a few hiccups the models are just OK and I didn’t get fully into it like I thought I would. Glad I only went for the basic version.

I’ve gone back to my ‘favourite comfortable pair of slippers’ P3Dv4 where everything I use works. Oh and my Sidewinder works! :excited:
It was quite refreshing after a month or so of MS2020.

P3DV5

Although a long video, I have applied the changes and seen a significant improvement. No more CTD's.

His comments on how V5 is different to V4 are interesting.

FWIW I'll chime in and say that although the % of time I've spent in MSFS vs P3D (v5) of late has been very high I don't anticipate dropping the latter entirely for quite a while, if ever. Eventually MSFS will get helicopters (and when they finally arrive they'll hopefully be more realistic than FSX/P3D), supersonic aerodynamics (pertinent for most fast jet fliers) and a capable, well-documented SDK... but I'm also an oddball because I like maritime operations, which by its nature includes submarines. P3D expanded to become an all-round sim (not just flight), inc. the latter, but I can't see MSFS ever doing the same (the clue is in the title!). I also feel like one is able to immerse oneself in operating military aircraft (classic, British ones of course!) in P3D rather than just flying them. MSFS may become home to study-level aircraft (not sure I like that term), but MS are reasonably clear that their flight sim is aimed more at GA, airliners and other civilian types and much less about military.

Am I correct in assuming this means no more P3D development for you Dave? :(
