Handy Recovery Tool for FS9 and FSX

Post by Nigel H-J »

I downloaded a file for touchdown effect thinking it might improve the wheel smoke instead of the default ones' that come with FSX although it was for FS9 one user said that it worked well in FSX so I downloaded and tried it.

Terrible, so I took out the files from the Effect Folder then I ended up with black squared smoke on touchdown. :wall:

Did a search in the hope of finding a cure and came up with this from Flightsim:

gauges_recovery_fsx.zip

Not only does it re-install all default FSX effects it also re-installs all the default gauges as well, you can choose which installs you want so now I have my white smoke effect back and working.

Nice handy tool to have.

Nigel.

Nige..

It obviously changed the effect texture too which is why you got a black square. Backup, backup, backup ;)

Same fellow came out with an newer and BIGGER similar file gauges_effects_recover.zip at FS.com

Looking at his sig in the file he seems to affiliate himself with naughty old Rikoo which is unfortunate but the sentiment seems the same.
