I quite like this one, the quality / complexity is what we expect from Mike, and for anyone wanting any fictional liverys, I've got a layered reapint kit with a few more panel lines than Mikes, based on a photo I found of it with no paint on!!
The Westinghouse j34 only produced 3500# thrust so given the weight of the McD220 2 engines would have made it a little underpowered. BTW
McDonell and the J34 had a history - they had been used in the Goblin and the Banshee so McD engineers were familar with the engine - as far as the Jetstar goes can someone confirm that at one point Lockheed actually considered putting a pair of avons on it???
According to my source (Lockheed aircraft by RJ Francillon), the intention was to use 2 x Bristol Orpheus built under licence as the Wright TJ37. The production of the TJ37 did not happen.
Only the two protoypes were powered by the Orpheus.
