Pick a name

Post by RAF_Quantum »

Hi Guys

Welcome to your new 'home' of virtual flying. It is going to take a fair bit of organising getting this thing 'off the ground' so please be patient with me. To start things off, I suppose we have to have a mutually agreed name.

The policy at CBFS has I believe always been one of 'no fictional liveries' so that policy will be carried over to this VA. Of all the aircraft we shall be flying, there are a multitude of genuine airline liveries already available. So, all of the potential VA fleet already has a choice of paint schemes. What livery you use is entirely up to you. With this in mind, it would be preferable to pick a name which has some sort of 'universal' catch all so that potentially we can embrace the ability to fly ANY Britsh aircraft that was operated by ANY airline, or ANY aircraft that was operated by ANY BRITISH airline. This will NOT open the floodgates of requests for Boeings/Airbuses/Embraers etc as we shall simply not be purchasing any aircraft that are not suitable for the VA.

So, back to the name. These have been mentioned so far

1. British United Airways
2. Classic British United
3. Classic Line UK
4. GB Classic
5. Classic British Flight Services
6. BCOA (British Classic Overseas Airways)

Further options

7. British United VA
8. Classic British VA

My 'observations' about the above choices are.............

3. Sounds a bit like a shipping company.
5. Doesn't 'roll off the tongue'.
6. Suggests long haul operations and the name doesn't 'roll off the tongue'.

What I would like is for you to pick 3 numbers from the above and just post a 'one-liner' below with the numbers of your choice. I will let this thread run a couple of days until I see most pilots have given thier choices. After that Time, the three most popular numbers picked will get a poll to decide upon the name we shall use.

Rgds

John

Classic Line UK is the winner by far for me. Conjures up wonderful images.
