Taxispeed and wind..

Post by John R »

Hello All

First time pilot on fly-net.

I've completed my first flight but lost 5% due to excessive taxi speed. I'm using real world weather and landed into a 19kt head wind on Rwy35 at Aldergrove. Turning off the runway my ground speed was 10kts, but soon as I turned into wind the speed increased to 30kts. Is there a way around this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi John,

The FlyNET client calculates your GROUNDSPEED and it is from this that determines any 'speeding fine'. You must have been 'caught' whilst taxiing with a tailwind.

Thanks for that John, -5% sounds better than 3 points and £60 though.

To Avoid this situation, I always open up a GPS when taxing so I can see the accurate taxi speed.
