Flying your own A/C..

Post by DanKH »

Just wondered:

If you own an aircraft.

Can you then fly for the VA?
Who earns the revenue?
Who tkaes care of maintenance?

If you're thinking of doing what I think you're thinking of doing.. DON'T!!!!

Any aircraft you buy for your private hangar is your responsibility and your's alone. You do not earn money flying it (you cannot take pax).. and you pay for your own fuel and maint. You can however, fly it wherever you so desire but all costs incurred are down to you

I have a Cessna, Dh89, Dove, Chippie and a Beech D18S and I rarely fly them as with the exception of the Chippie.. it's always cheaper to get from A to B by buying a ticket. That said.. if you have more money than you know what to do with (as I often do) they make a nice change so who cares about the cost!! Having to buy at least 7t of fuel to get from LHR to Northolt in a VC10 would be a bit counter productive though Dan

Hi Dan,

In answer to your question, no it is not possible for you to use your private aircraft on a revenue flight for the VA. The private hangar is just for your own personal use and nothing else.

Hi Dave,

Yes you did, I just misread Dan's response as needing further explanation which it doesn't of course. He's just teasing you and wants be a Travolta wannabe. Next he'll want someone to make a private taxi-way, aircraft port and new house next to his favourite runway somewhere. Way to go Dan

He has some way to go before he can afford his private VC10 and then there are the running costs  Would be something of a milestone for FlyNET though

He's a whizz with afcad so he may already have his 'Travoltaesque' luxury house/airfield!! I made my last pub in ASD some years back down to the correct sized car park and lights. However, what the pub DIDN'T have was the runway I'd added :worried:
